The Old Trafford club have offered the former Barcelona goalkeeper a contract following two months of training at Carrington in a bid to recover from a knee injury
Manchester United are set to announce the signing of former Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes on an 18-month deal.
Valdes has been training with Louis van Gaal's side as he returns to full fitness following a serious knee injury.
And the Old Trafford club have decided to offer the Spain international a contract which will expire in 2016.
Valdes initially arrived at Carrington in October in a bid to recover from an ongoing knee problem, with Van Gaal declaring he had maintained a 'special' relationship with the goalkeeper.
Van Gaal would not be drawn on a move for the former Barca shot stopper when questioned by the media throughout the last two months.
Liverpool had been tipped to land Valdes in the summer, but the Old Trafford club have snapped up the 32-year-old, who will offer competition to No.1 David De Gea.
